The bank’s deposit token is set to extend beyond Base, while public materials leave Ethereum client rollout timing unclear.

JPMorgan will make its JPM Coin dollar deposit token available to institutional clients on Ethereum, according to an October 19 [Bloomberg report republished by The Edge](https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/822321). The announcement extends the bank’s public-chain payments plans beyond Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 network where the token launched in 2025.

Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, told Bloomberg that the intended users include cryptocurrency businesses making blockchain payments and financial institutions settling or collateralizing transactions involving tokenized assets. She cited Ethereum’s liquidity and its existing use among clients as reasons for choosing the network.

JPM Coin represents commercial bank deposits. JPMorgan’s [product documentation](https://www.jpmorgan.com/kinexys/jpm-coin) distinguishes it from a cryptocurrency or stablecoin and restricts participation to vetted, approved counterparties. Using a public blockchain therefore does not make the token generally available to retail users.

The bank describes Blockchain Deposit Accounts as the connection between ordinary account balances and tokenized deposits. Its documentation lists payments, collateral posting and settlement as institutional uses. These are descriptions of the product’s supported functions, rather than evidence that a particular securities market has begun accepting JPM Coin.

The Ethereum rollout’s public status remains unevenly described. An October 19 [Ethereum Institutional post](https://x.com/ethereuminsti/status/2112081440418447833) called JPMD live on Ethereum mainnet. [CoinDesk’s report](https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/19/jpmorgan-s-jpm-coin-representing-dollar-deposits-is-coming-to-ethereum-bloomberg) said Landriault had not supplied an availability date, while JPMorgan’s public product page still named Base when checked that day.

The confirmed development is the announced Ethereum expansion. Those materials do not establish when each eligible client can begin using it. They also do not provide evidence of Ethereum-specific payment volume or broad customer adoption.
