The first participating Sparkassen began offering DekaBank crypto trading through the existing App Sparkasse on October 19, according to dpa’s reporting of confirmation from the German Savings Banks and Giro Association, or DSGV. That start covers individual savings banks joining a staged rollout. It does not mean every Sparkasse has activated the service.

DekaBank’s current product page names the service Krypto – powered by Deka and describes an offering without investment advice for customers making their own decisions. Customers use a separate crypto account at DekaBank, with access presented inside App Sparkasse.

Trading, custody and support are supplied by DekaBank, according to Sparkasse Rottal-Inn’s current product page. Deka separately states that private keys are held on customers’ behalf in a collectively managed omnibus wallet. Deka’s product page restricts external transfers to wallet addresses of certain crypto-asset service providers.

As checked on October 20, Deka’s participant list names Frankfurter Sparkasse, Sparkasse Rottal-Inn, Niederrheinische Sparkasse RheinLippe, Taunus Sparkasse and Sparkasse Karlsruhe. Those entries identify participating institutions; the list does not establish that they all activated at the same time.

The current product pages name five supported assets: Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana and Polygon. The app provides the customer-facing channel, while the separate crypto account and central custody sit with DekaBank.

Deka’s October 19 release introduction says the service will be introduced gradually and each Sparkasse decides whether to include it. DSGV executive board member Joachim Schmalzl told dpa that each savings bank decides when to start. There is no single nationwide start date.
