Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger on October 26. The launch extends its tokenized fund offering from dollars to sterling, following the USD Liquidity Fund share class introduced on the same network in July.
Cointelegraph's report corroborates the launch and the earlier USD rollout. It describes the expansion as part of Aviva's collaboration with Ripple. The new development is the Sterling share class, rather than the start of that collaboration or the first Aviva fund represented on XRPL.
The Aviva announcement describes a digital twin model: holdings can be represented on-chain while the existing off-chain fund structure remains in place. The underlying Sterling fund is an Ireland-domiciled UCITS money market fund that originally launched in 2002.
That structure defines what has changed. Investors gain a tokenized format for holding a share class of an existing fund. The announcement describes a digital access layer that retains the existing off-chain fund structure.
Komainu, an institutional digital asset custodian, and tokenization infrastructure platform Licuido supported the launch. Aviva names Bank of New York Mellon as the fund's custodian and says the share class is available to eligible investors with digital wallets.
Eligibility therefore remains part of the stated access conditions: possessing an XRPL wallet alone is not the announced participation criterion. The release does not specify the eligibility checks, supported wallets or transfer conditions for this class. It establishes the launch, but gives no detailed access or transfer workflow for an individual investor.
